October 3, 2022 – Regional Director Maria Lourdes D. Lim, CESO II of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) XI graces the Police Regional Office XI’s Traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony as Guest of Honor and Speaker. The traditional flag raising ceremony was held on October 3, 2022 at the PRO XI Parade Ground, Camp Sgt Quintin M Merecido, Buhangin, Davao City.
Director Lim, in her speech, discussed the socioeconomic development plans for Davao Region and shared the updates on the formulation of the successor Philippine Development Plan (PDP), 2023-2028, as well as the Davao Regional Development Plan (DRDP), 2023-2028. She informed that the Regional Development Council (RDC) XI, being the highest policy making body in the Region, along with its development partners, including the PRO XI, have already commenced the preparation of the DRDP, 2023-2028. She said that the DRDP shall be the main development blueprint for the Region for the next six years, with an overall goal of reinvigorating job creation and poverty reduction by steering the regional economy back to its high-growth path, through economic transformation, towards a prosperous, inclusive and relient society in Davao Region.
Director Lim also emphasized the critical role of the PRO XI towards attaining the DRDP’s sectoral outcome on ensuring and sustaining peace and security for the Region’s communities. She commended PRO XI for its initiative of proposing the creation of the Metropolitan Davao Police District (MDPD) under the Metropolitan Davao Development Authority (MDDA). By virtue of the Republic Act No. 11708, otherwise known as the MDDA Act, the MDPD shall assume operational control over the local police offices in areas within the jurisdiction of the MDDA. Likewise, she expressed her strong support in the implementaiton of the PRO XI’s programs, especially on its implementation of the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay Program, which she believed shall sustain the gains of Executive Order No. 70, otherwise known as the Whole-of-Nation Approach in Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict.
“The peace and security strategy is bedrock for socioeconomic development. There shall be no development in all sectors of our society if we have unstable peace and security. Thus, we need the support of our police forces, and all the public safety and security sector group for all Davaoeños to enjoy a peaceful and liveable Davao”, Director Lim said, as she addressed the men and women of PRO XI.
Director Lim gave honor and salute to the relentless efforts of the men and women of PRO XI in fighting against all forms of criminality and in ensuring peace and security in Davao Region.
In grateful appreciation, PRO XI presented Director Lim with plaque of appreciation for her benevolence and unceasing support to the institution, being the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the said activity.
