The NEDA Regional Office (NRO) XI conducted a three-day Workshop on Position/Competency Profiling on 18-20 December 2013 for its staff members occupying the middle-management level positions. The Workshop is an initial step in crafting a succession plan that shall be integrated into the NRO XI 5-Year Human Resource Development (HRD), 2013-2017. An enhanced NRO XI HRD Plan is among the requirements to sustain Civil Service Commission (CSC) Level II accreditation status of the Office under the Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management (PRIME–HRM).
The three-day workshop commenced on 18 December 2013 and culminated on 20 December 2013. It was participated in by personnel occupying the middle- management positions, viz: Day 1 – Supervising Economic Development Specialist (SEDS)/Supervising Administrative Officer, Day 2 – Chief Economic Development Specialist (CEDS)/Administrative Officer (CAO) and, Day 3 – Senior Economic Development Specialist (Sr. EDS)/Accountant III. Dr. Lorenzo F. Templonuevo, a Human Resource Expert/Consultant, facilitated the workshop.
During the workshop, staff occupying the middle-management positions identified the required core and functional competencies in the effective discharge of their duties and responsibilities in the organization. Likewise, to have a better understanding and appreciation on their functional competencies, the staff defined the identified core competencies in general and operational context, as well as, in the context of NRO XI’s functions.
The position/competency profiles shall be utilized in formulating the competency assessment tools which shall be used in determining the appropriateness of current competencies, as well as, in identifying competency gaps of the incumbents in the middle-management level. The competency assessment shall lead to the identification of appropriate interventions that will help the staff in improving their competencies in current positions and prepare them for career advancement.
