The Balik Probinsya Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) Program Special Committee XI convened for its 2nd quarter CY 2021 meeting on June 1, 2021 via Zoom presided by Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary, Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORDS) for Region XI, and BP2 Program Special Committee XI Chairperson Wendel E. Avisado.

The Committee was presented with the updates on the implementation of the BP2 Program in Davao del Norte by Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (PPDC) Nelson F. Plata. Davao del Norte is a pilot LGU of the BP2 Program in Davao Region. For the first batch, the province received 6 families-beneficiaries of the BP2 Program on March 19, 2021. PPDC Plata informed the Committee that the beneficiaries were provided food and financial assistance. They shall also be receiving livelihood assistance and skills training programs. The Provincial Government is currently preparing for the 2nd batch of the BP2 Program beneficiaries consisting of 10 families who are expected to arrive in Davao del Norte on June 17. Chairman Avisado commended the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte for pioneering the BP2 Program implementation in Davao Region, and also for the orderly and well-organized dispatch of the beneficiaries to the province.

Further, the Committee was presented with the inventory of facilities of LGUs that would support the implementation of the BP2 Program in Davao Region. The assessment revealed that the LGUs have adequate facilities for the implementation of the BP2 Program. Thus, the Committee enjoined all the LGUs in Davao Region to submit Letters of Intent to the BP2 Program National Council through its Secretariat, the National Housing Authority (NHA) Central Office, to participate in the BP2 Program. – Pamela N.
