The Davao Regional Development Council (RDC XI)  approved the Davao Region Industry Cluster Roadmap (DR-ICR), Updated Action Plans 2020-2030 for implementation during its third quarter meeting  through video conference on September 16.

The industry clustering strategy, which is Davao’s  development platform in the promotion of exports, generation of investments, creation of jobs and agro-industrialization, was put into writing in 2014 with the formulation of the DR-ICR 2014-2030. This was anchored on  Davao Regional Development Plan (DRDP) 2014-2016 Update and the successor DRDP 2017-2022, specifically under the Chapters on Expanding Opportunities in Agriculture, Fishery and Forestry, and Industry and Services through Trabaho at Negosyo.

The updated Roadmap contains the enhanced action plans and revalidated 2020-2030 targets of the region’s 15 priority industry clusters, namely Abaca, Banana, Bangus, Cacao, Coconut, Durian, ICT, Livestock and Poultry, Mango, Mining, Renewable Energy, Rice, Seaweed, Tourism, and Wood, to be implemented from 2020 to 2030. Said document incorporates changes in the region’s environment and other developments  including  the updated targets in the DRDP, 2017-2022 Midterm Update and the effects of the  coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 pandemic.

The DR-ICR, Updated Action Plans 2020-2030 shall set the direction of the Clusters in realizing the region’s gainful participation in the ASEAN Economic Community and  the opportunities to participate in the global value chains which will  enable the region to access wider markets, better technologies and positive spillovers from other actors in the chain.
