The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by all UN member states, including the Philippines, in 2015, as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by the year 2030. The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) XI recognizes that the attainment of these goals requires a concerted, multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder effort at the national and local levels.

Since the Philippines’ adoption of the SDGs, many initiatives have been undertaken by Davao Region in response and support to the realization of its objectives. Hence, the NEDA XI, through the Regional Development Council (RDC) XI as Davao Region’s main mechanism for regional coordination on SDGs, initiates this “SDG Fiesta” advocacy event on August 31, 2022.

The theme for this year’s SDG Fiesta, “Local Actions, Global Impact,” underscores the importance of the SDGs localization. The event shall highlight Davao Region’s responses to the SDGs’ urgent call for action, and provide an avenue for sharing Davao Region’s good practices, success stories, and lessons learned in relation to the SDG implementation. Towards this end, the following activities shall be conducted:

  1. Knowledge Sessions on the SDGs
  2. SDG Photojournalism Contest
  3. SDG Champion Awards
