NEDA XI Briefs US Embassy Officials on the Davao Region Economy ![]() Briefing on the Davao Region Economy. Director Agustin (seated center) with NRO XI staff (left) brief the US Embassy officials headed US Deputy Economic Counselor Timothy Neely recently visited Davao City and called on NEDA XI Regional Director Nicasio Angelo J. Agustin for a briefing on the economic situation, role, prospects and challenges of the Davao Region in the broader context of the Mindanao economy. Director Agustin bared that Mr. Neely was interested to learn more about the region’s economy so that he can properly advise the American people on the kind of support and investments that the region needs. In his briefing, Director Agustin cited the factors that contribute to the growth of the Davao region economy. These are good weather condition, stable peace and order, rich natural resources, highly skilled labor force, efficient financial institutions, connectivity to the global economy, better educational and health facilities, and improving infrastructure facilities, among others. He stressed to Mr. Neely that the services sector is the leading contributor to the region’s economic output. In terms of employment, Agustin added that almost 90 percent of the region’s workers are in the services and agriculture sectors.
